Make My Day....Chinese New Year Meets Valentines!....

February always brings along a few more festivals for people to celebrate... just not this person but never mind I can still join in this way.

I decided to make 2 bookmarks to make your day and I really hope they do...
Bookmark
Well we might as well stick to the theme of red which has a hint of black...
Happy Chinese New Year
I have so much origimi paper that I often think its a shame that I don't get to use it as the colours and styles are amazing. I'm glad I finally got an opportunity to do just that with the background.
Happy Chinese New Year
I next added the white flowery background which makes me crave summer.
Happy Chinese New Year
This lady I cut around and stuck on top of the flowery background. It looks a little plain so I added the red borders.... if it wasn't a bookmark I would have added all kinds of embellishments and ribbon but its already has enough layers. The only thing that annoys me is that this lady is blurred but the quality was like that when I bought it, only in the shop it wasn't so obvious due to their lighting etc... Still its fun to work with them.
Happy Valentines
Next stop is valentines day which is still a week away but I actually made this first and then realised it was Chinese new year this week... but its nice to get double the treats right?
Happy Valentines
I started with my heart rubberstamp which basically looks like the top half of this bookmark. I still think that top part is missing something but I don't know what... I really hate that feeling.
Happy Valentines
I used my paper punch for the hearts, stuck the white card on to red card as it needed a little something so the border works nicely. It still looked a bit bland so I used a gold gel pen around the edges. Its times like this that I wish I had an embossing kit but I just think I have way too much craft stuff already without adding more.

If you would like these bookmarks, just start with 'make my day' and I will see you next week to let you know who will receive it.

These are now making the day of someone in Germany!

  1. OMG, this is soooo soooo amazing ^0^
We didn't really celebrate Chinese New Year because my friend wanted to see European things, so we kinda forgot... I love all your creative ideas!! I'm just commenting right now because I have so many bookmarks already, though it's a shame not to clame everything you produce ^^

  2. Hi...I'm stalking you here too :-) How long does it take you to make something like this?

  3. Tanuki I completely forgot as I usually do something for it in my art club so will make maybe a chinese dragon tomorrow. It doesn't help that I've been having one of those weeks where my thoughts are insane so I didn't even wish you a nice day.

You must be more organised then me because I can never find mine when I need them so I always feel you can never have enough bookmarks. I keep meaning to get a box and put them all in so that I know where to put them back when I finish a book.

  14. I love your bookmarks - especially the Chinese inspired. I was living in China last New Year's which was quite a thing to behold!
