Make My Day~You are...~

As I mentioned I wanted to make something simple....
I'm going to try and create something using these #alphabet #letters #yarn #thread #rubberstamps #card #urbanstamps
I've used rubber stamps, ink, alphabet letters and yarn to create these postcards. Here's what I came up with....

They were so easy to make and look so effective. This was inspired by some of the feel good projects I've been doing lately but whether they made someones day or not only they will know.

I wanted to make a whole range but today and yesterday my niece turned up and it was hard to do them. The Amazing one I stamped with her sitting in my lap because she some how always ends up there without me realising it, its why the stamping isn't so well thought out. I used an A4 sheet of card cut in half length ways.

I may make a couple more depending on time.

Make My Day~Secret Letter 1~ Swirls and Curls~

Secret Letter
You're probably tired of seeing that same post about me asking you to e-mail your letters to me to get creative with and offer on here but finally after many hiccups with my laptop I was able to print them off and have some fun.

This one the owner of this letter created the paper themselves with the option of a blank one incase I wanted it to be entirely my work but nope I thought as this is your letter I should offer it as it is but with a little touch up from me, hopefully you don't feel I spoilt it. With the letters I received I would have loved to have been able to decorate the paper first and then printed on it but as I don't have microsoft word I had to print it first and then decorate as I couldn't arrange the way I wanted the words etc... to be. I also don't have the fonts that you used and I wanted to keep that as it reflects your personality.

You don't even need to guess that the distress ink touches are what I added, also I stamped and coloured the last image. The purple flower I'd actually coloured with the combination of purple and white but when it came to the last one I blindly coloured the wrong petal which resulted in me having to colour the whole thing. I used pro markers which are streak free but I personally find they bleed too much so I feel quite disappointed about that as I can't colour as freely as I'd hoped to. I also decorated the envelope which you can see the front and back of in the first two photos.

If you would like to have this letter
Please comment  with
'Make My Day'

Remember if you receive this letter you can write a letter to the owner of it
or if you feel they aren't quite what you wanted then
why not send them a little postcard in exchange for it.
Hopefully though you'll have gained a new friend.

A name has been choosen but thats a surprise too!

Make My Day... Turn Back The Hands Of Time or....

...use the key to unlock the door to the furture ATC...

I had something part made last week and tried to complete it today but my heart wasn't in it so I gave up and decided to do this ATC project that I'd seen years ago and wanted to make but no one ever created a swap on it in the yahoo groups I was in. So today was my day to create this 4 piece ATC to create one big image. I love how it turned out but I'm going to one day make another where each ATC is something on its own too. This was my first time doing it so I just wanted to experiment freely plus I have an awful cold where I can't concentrate so it wouldn't have been much fun.
Time
I used yellow, orange and green distress ink
and
which I stamped in black.
I did one sheet in brown but it was just too dark for my liking
and liked the softness of this one.
I coloured some of the stamped images in with pro markers
and went around 2 images in gold and silver gel pens.
time to 001
By the way the colour of these are a little more brighter then what it looks like in my photos.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you to write
make my day in your diary
starting from next weekend for a whole week
to celebrate the 1st birthday of my blog
I'll be having a giveaway everyday!

I'll have holidays at that time
which is why I haven't organised it sooner
as I should hopefully get my mind organised
in getting things prepared
but also I'm hoping for a couple of snow days off to craft!
Wishful thinking I know
but who knows as we have a visit from Mr Snow today
and he maybe around for a while.

I will be giving away handmade items, craft and stationery supplies
so keep your eyes wide open.

For now though lets focus on these ATCs

Make My Day....Vintage Love Letter....

I absolutely love altering items and used to do it a lot but for some reason I haven't had the chance to do it in maybe a year or so but today I decided to change all that by altering this lovely yellow album a friend sent me along time ago after she saw what I did with the first one she sent me...
yellow
I've added the image of the album I altered in here too so that you can see what I did last time as this time I've done something a little different but not too different as I've used the same style of images.
Vintage Love Letters Album 011Vintage Love Letters Album 010
I started by covering the album in some handmade paper (not handmade by me though).
Vintage Letter Album
I hadn't intended to use these photos but then I decided even though its a photo album it will be great to store postcards in too. So when I started looking through my images these were the only ones that fit in. This then meant I had to use background paper with writing on and everything else fell into place.

I started with using distress inks, chalk and coloured pen on the doyle, I cut it in half and used one on each end. I stuck the images down and used one of my pre-cut decoupage flowers which I just loved.
flower album
The charm was a must to start with because when I created my tatty teddy cards I had wanted to use a charm but none fit in with what they represented... this for some reason was still on my desk when I sat down and it fit in nicely whether you use it for photos or postcards.

I then finished it off with postage marks but I really need to look into getting a pack of different postmarks because this ones only for Paris and it doesn't really fit in since the writings all in English. I don't have a problem with it though as people in Paris write English also.

I'm not so keen on these collage images but I take so many photos that I want to use all of them even though I still didn't manage it as I can't work out picnik just yet... I'll be using it more often though in order not to overflow you with images. Heres a link to the flickr album with close up photos of this item.

Make My Day..... Sunset and Dance Nights....

I've had this card sitting on my desk for about 2 weeks now waiting to be completed as I only managed to get as far as the iris folding which I was inspired to do as I was working on the previous cards.
Its all fun 001
The Iris folding is the part in the middle... which has ended up completely lost in the background I know.... I've no idea when this card got so fussy....
Its all fun 004
I love working with vases so added this vase and wire ribbon that I bought a long time ago...
Its all fun 002
This side was looking a little empty compared to the rest so I added my lines....
Its all fun 005
I finished it with the words 'I'm so sorry' which was a request and added the buttons.... yes I know super fussy. I do have an idea for something to do with forgiveness but I just haven't had the time to get that idea into reality yet so hopefully I will do at some point this year.

This next card I've actually had on my desk longer then the one above, it just wasn't coming together so I left it until my brain would register what exactly to do with it so I hope you like it what I've done.
Its all fun 006
The image was too big for the card that came with it so I used plain white card, decorated it with backing paper, stuck on the dancer and cut around her.
Its all fun 007
I then added the ribbon, poppy and buttons....
Its all fun 013
and used pealised paper and beaded ribbon wire on the inside. I only had this gold one left so ended up using the silver on the first one and the gold one on this even though gold did suit the first one.... oh well!

Make My Day...A Rubber Stampers Experiment...

A couple of weeks ago I went out and bought myself some Fimo to create with because a couple of years ago I received the most amazing Artistic Trading Card using it and a rubber stamp. Ever since I wanted to use Fimo in my crafts but never got around to it so when I saw a pack of 20 colours on sale in the craft store I couldn't resist buying it and giving it a try but I had to start small as its the first time I've used it.

So keep in mind its the first time I've used Fimo so don't expect something perfectly made as the edges are quite rough and badly cut but I didn't realise just how bad until I cooked it. I started by rolling out my Fimo, stamping on top of it and removing the edges I didn't want. I cooked it for 30 minutes on the lowest heat possible.
Fimo ATCs
I've used yellow card, orange and red strips to create a slope effect in the background, red paper background paper for the Fimo image, green buttons and the flower.
Fimo ATCs
Patterned paper backed on to card, white strip of paper to create the folding zig-zags, buttons and gold wire which I twisted on to a needle to create a spring..

You will be seeing more Fimo on this blog and I hope that you'll enjoy it. Even though its an ATC I don't want one in return but feel free to pass it on in trade for another.

Here are other things that I have created using the flowers above

Make My Day...Travel the World with me Postcard....

I know I didn't post anything during the week but over the weekend I had really bad stomach cramps, I haven't had them for some time as I'm trying to change my eating habits so it was a little unbearable... then the first day back after the holidays we get a phone call at work from Ofstead so my week just went into going to work early and coming back later....

One thing I did do was read a book called The Pirates Daugter, I didn't sleep too great one of the nights this week so my mind ended up crafting so whilst I was laying there my mind just came up with this....
Travel Map Postcard 001
This looks a lot nicer for real.
My mind actually thought about a A-Z style maps but I'm not cutting up my A-Z as I still use it! So I knew that I already had this map that came in a collection of papers a friend sent me a long time ago.
Travel Map Postcard 004
I used distress ink around the edges to give it a sandy look since you end up somewhere near a sandy beach when you come off a boat.
Travel Map Postcard 005
By the way I did imagine using these images (well not these exact ones but from the booklet I own with them in). My thoughts were actually of hand stitching around the edges but I didn't feel up to it so used a ruler and pen to create the lines which smugded creating a little more of an oldish/worn out look.
Travel Map Postcard 002
I then imagined that I'd have a compass right in the middle on the side... only I added the compass but at the bottom instead... because
Travel Map Postcard 003
I wanted to add these tickets which I made using sand paper to get a little old rough edge feel to it. I had imagined folding the map as I have done which I used to do a lot in my days of making neat FBs but for some reason never used again. I realised it would make great pockets which is why I've added the tickets as I have. Originally the world ticket would have just been there on its own but it looked like something was missing so I used my brand new inks to stamp this floral border. I never imagined the yellow would be so strong as usually they are so light and annoying... which has left me over the moon as I'll be able to use it a lot more often.

So this is what I spent about an hour of my morning doing and now I hope you now like this enough to shout 'make my day'.

Make My Day...The future comes one day at a time...

I've removed the first postcard that I made like this and I can happily say that I made this one in my first attempt and it looks so much better then the last one... even though technically its exactly the same thing.
freedom
I started this time by stamping the cage and the text as I decided that if I made a mistake I wouldn't have put loads of effort in first. This is something I'm going to have to remember in the future as it works so much better.
freedom
I then used 1 shade of yellow and 2 shades of blue distress ink to create the background.
freedom
I used pages from an old book about guillotines so don't read the words too carefully, I just thought it was better used this way.
freedom
I decided it needed a little something more so added buttons which now means I need to make an envelope to go with this postcard.
freedom
I finished it off with the lines and backed it on to black card.

I hope you like this enough to shout make my day!

Make My Day....If I was KING for the day....

In my last make my day I wanted to use something other then rubber stamps which resulted in me finding that I had mostly girlie images or cute character images so it meant the men missed out as they were not willing to surprise their wives, girlfriends, daughters, nieces, friends.... I don't blame them as I'm too selfish to share too. So I decided to do a second round today and try and make a more male type card. I'm actually curious to know how many men actually read my blog... maybe you'll be willing to come out of the wood works just to comment on this one as I only know of 2....

Men and Women can try and claim this postcard though :)...
If I was king for the day Postcard 007
My title on this one on my flickr is 'If I was a king for the day postcard 007' move over James Bond my kitty is out to get you... he looks mean enough I admit!
If I was king for the day Postcard
You can't tell on here but I've used sandy coloured paper for the cat and gold card for the hat. I used watercolour crayons to colour him in but they turned out to be such a mess :(.
If I was king for the day Postcard
Kings always have a medallion to represent them.... Don't they?
If I was king for the day Postcard
I used the Fibre Art Stencils which a friend sent me for Christmas or my birthday... I can't remember but I have used them a lot and love them.

To finish it off I added the black lines which to some may look like a mess but I always like them as it adds a little edge to a plain piece of work. I backed it on to greeny/gold card.
Wondering PostcardJourney PostcardDiddl Greeting Card
Some other ways that I have used the stitching, for some reason I can't seem to find one where I've used the stitching above but I have used it a lot of times as I like it a lot.
I forgot to say start with 'Make My Day' and I'll randomly select someone on Wednesday!
